Into The Light
- 26 Jun 2016 - 18 commentsDrambuie passed away two weeks ago after being groomed. I'd been out of town for several days with work and the girls were staying at the vet/kennel where they always do when I have to be away. Tawny has really been missing her big sister, but we've been taking long walks in the evening which we couldn't do in the past since Drambuie wasn't up to walking very far. She would have been 13 in August.

Crazy Busy ... and Gone
- 03 Jun 2016 - 12 commentsThe photo is of the basement pit for a new home being dug a lot away from my house. You can see my pickups in the distance. Everywhere around here you see ads for "Call Before You Dig" and this contractor did just that. They painted lines for every utility in the area ... including my gas line to my house ... and even though it's on the wrong side of the fence for the digging .... I had a yellow line painted on my grass for it. The best I can tell the painting of the lines gave the digger a targ…

Tuesday night was the last photography club competition and I entered three photos. I recieved good comments on all of them, but I did pull in a first place with this one.

Skinned Knuckles and Greasy Fingers
- 13 Jun 2015 - 4 commentsThis is an older photo of my old Chevy ... though my new Chevy is old too ... just 10 years newer. It has been my backup truck for several years now and recently has been sidelined with a number of problems. A leaky waterpump being the biggest concern. This week I have been spending my evenings working on it much to the dismay of the girls. I should really just pull the drivetrain out of it and send the remainder off to the auto recyling yard, but I think I may try and squeeze a couple more year…

Walking Dead
- 02 Jun 2015 - 8 commentsI finally got a full night’s sleep last night. The first in about three days. My oldest four legged furry buddy has made it a point to wake me up about every two hours. The cool weather of the last few days has had her wanting to be outside instead of hanging out over the A/C vents like she normally does. I'd leave them both outside ... except the younger one likes to talk to the neighbor’s cats ... very loudly!

Blocked
- 19 May 2015 - 8 commentsIt appears my Ipernity browsing at break time is over! Ipernity joined a long list of blocked web sites at work. I'm hoping it is temporary, but probably not. It's too bad ... it was one of the few places I could comment using both hands to type! One, or both of the girls demand a hand scratching their ears most of the time when I'm home.

Dead in the Woods
- 28 Apr 2015 - 10 commentsMonday … I headed out to Ohio to service some water-table loggers and I took the camera along just in case I ran across something new. We finally got to the site after a very long drive and I noticed a honey locust tree with a large amount of burled growth on the branches. I pulled out the camera and went to set the exposure … and I found the camera battery was completely dead! I normally carry a spare … though, I rarely need one, but the spare was in the charger at home since I’d just put this…

Finding Vivian Maier
- 29 Jan 2015 - 16 commentsdvd.netflix.com/Movie/Finding-Vivian-Maier/70291615 "When longtime nanny Vivian Maier died in 2009, she left behind thousands of photo negatives that she'd produced over the years. But the now-famous shutterbug's unique body of work lay in storage until an amateur historian uncovered the trove." I finally got around to watching the documentary of Vivian Maier's life tonight. It's well worth the time to see, but sadly leaves you with more questions about this great street photographer than…

Lee Miller in Fashion
- 22 Jan 2015This is not normally the type of book that catches my attention, but I also knew Lee Miller worked as a war correspondent during WWII and I thought I’d give it a try since the library had a copy. The book paints a pretty detailed portrait of the war years and tells the story of Lee Miller and how she went from model to photographer and then to the famous war correspondent for Vogue Magazine. The book is filled with the fashion photos which made Lee Miller famous as well as the photo taken by a f…
